[edit] Netbooks

Netbooks describe a category of low-cost and scaled-down subnotebooks used primarily for surfing the Internet and performing other basic functions like word processing. These may be carried out using applications installed on a solid state drive or by the use of cloud computing services. Similarly, Nettops are for similar low-cost desktop devices. Both Netbook and Nettop device platforms are normally built around low power CPUs like the Intel Atom, the VIA C7 or the AMD Geode. - Netbook Nettop

[edit] Google Chrome OS

"Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we're already talking to partners about the project, and we'll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve."

[edit] Fedora 11

  • Based on the live build I've done with Fedora 11 out of the rawhide directory, I've found that the encrypted home directory support from liveusb-creator is working (which hadn't worked under Fedora 10 or 9 builds ) Sound is not working. There is a long delay in booting, but it could be due to the usb drive I'm using.
